Science - Stanton

In high school science courses, YSD students work to demonstrate proficiency in science concepts and practices. Students engage in the following science practices as a way to build conceptual understanding of the content:

  • asking questions and defining problems;
  • developing and using models;
  • planning and carrying out investigations;
  • analyzing and interpreting data;
  • using mathematics and computational thinking;
  • constructing explanations and designing solutions;
  • engaging in argument from evidence; and
  • obtaining, evaluating, and communicating information.

Students move from one course to the next progressing through content standards while continually revisiting and engaging in the same eight science practices.
