This course features an integrated, year-long curriculum of multicultural literature, writing, reading, listening, and speaking. The course celebrates diversity and studies culture in the context of literature. Its activities are carefully sequenced with the preceding and succeeding years’ curriculum to provide activities for concurrent growth and contextual use of all phases of the English language. Each high school has texts and reading selections which support the theme of multiculturalism and provide the opportunity for students to explore, reflect, and create in a number of communication styles. Unlike General Education English, the curriculum pace is IEP driven.
