PHE309: EWU PHED150 FAST FITNESS

Credits 1

Comprehensive physical fitness course designed to develop strength, flexibility, and endurance (muscular and cardiovascular) in an effective and efficient manner. Mandatory orientation and evaluation (pre-testing and post-testing) accompanies the program. Designed to develop baseline fitness levels for all persons with varying fitness levels. 
 

 

PHE310: EWU PHED152 STRENGTH/ WEIGHT TRAINING

Credits 1

Strength/weight training provides students an opportunity to develop musculoskeletal fitness based on the scientific principles of resistance training. Assistance will be given to students in developing a program design to meet their fitness goals.

PHE451: CWU PEF123 AEROBIC WALKING

Credits 1

Aerobic walking is the safest and most convenient form of exercise for most people to engage in. The class is designed to improve the general fitness level of each participant. Students will receive 1.0 college credit and .5 high school credit. Attendance and participation are required. Students must complete class with a 70% or higher to receive college credit.

Students will demonstrate the physical skills of soccer through actively playing the sport. Students will learn offensive and defensive play strategies and the rules of soccer.

Students will perform basic weight training exercise, perform exercises according to principles of training, exhibit an understanding of basic musculoskeletal anatomy and its relation to weight training, and demonstrate good knowledge of the fundamentals of weight training.

SCC400: EWU CHEM100 INTRODUCTION TO CHEMISTRY

Credits 1

Topics for this course include: scientific method; SI and metric systems; unit conversions; atomic structure; periodic table; bonding; and stoichiometry. This course includes laboratory work. 

SCC401: EWU CHEM171 GENERAL CHEMISTRY

Credits 1

Introduces chemistry concepts such as: uncertainty in measurements; nomenclature; structure of matter; chemical equations and stoichiometry; introductory thermochemistry; periodic properties; and chemical bonding. 

Students must also enroll in CHEM107L at EWU for the lab portion of this course.

SCP 491: CWU PHYS106 PHYSICS

Credits 1

An introduction to fundamental physics topics highlighting applications to the world around us. There will be an emphasis on learning by inquiry and on designing and critiquing solutions to real world issues. Students who take this class will be able to:

  • Describe and explain fundamental physics concepts in areas such as motion, forces, electricity, sound, and light.
  • Rigorously describe and analyze fundamental physics processes in areas such as motion, forces, electricity, sound, and light.
  • Use scientific investigative techniques such as generating and testing hypotheses to answer questions about relevant physics concepts.
  • Employ a quantitative and qualitative problem solving approach to describing and analyzing physics concepts.
  • Apply appropriate physics principles to assess and address a community safety issue and an energy management issue.
  • Describe how the methods of inquiry in physics contribute to society.
