The Ethnic Studies course focuses on the histories, cultures, languages, and surrounding politics of local minority communities in the Yakima Valley. Special emphasis is given to the Yakama Nation, African-Americans, Latinos, Asian, and Pacific Islanders, and the LGBTQ+ communities, among others. Students learn to become civically engaged members of our shared society and strive for positive outcomes and social justice for all.
